KUALA LUMPUR: The New Straits Times (NST) celebrated its 179th anniversary, today.
To commemorate the occasion, the management and staff from across Malaysia and friends of NST gathered for a celebration on the editorial floor of Balai Berita, the newspaper’s headquarters, in Jalan Riong.
Also present were NSTP Group Managing Editor, Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman and senior management of companies in Media Prima Berhad.
NST is the oldest newspaper still being published in East Asia.
At the event, New Straits Times group editor, Farrah Naz Karim, congratulated the team on its remarkable journey.
She praised the team’s agility in delivering quality and insightful content to the public.
“In the past two years, we have seen steady growth. Thanks to the editorial team and our friends in Media Prima for supporting NST in its journey.
“Challenges will always be there, but as long as we are ready to face them and know what to expect, we’ll be okay.
“I’m very happy to see the dynamics between NST’s young and seasoned team members, and this will continue to serve us well,” Farrah Naz added.
In the almost two centuries of its existence, NST has continuously evolved to keep pace with the ever-changing news and journalism landscape.
Farrah Naz added that NST is committed to providing its readers with high-calibre journalism as it embarks on the next phase of its growth.
For the get-together, Bank Rakyat, Bank Muamalat, Agro Bank, Yayasan Peneraju, Telekom Malaysia, Shangri-La sponsored cakes, brownies and pulut kuning, while nasi lemak, pizza, mee hoon goreng, roti jala, kuih-muih and drinks were also served. – NST Online
