KUALA LUMPUR: The media plays a vital role in disseminating accurate and relevant information about the Malaysia Madani framework policies and benefits to the public.
New Straits Times Press (NSTP) group managing editor Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman said the media, too, is a powerful medium in shaping public opinion and understanding.
He said efforts to uphold values related to self-management and ethics are important to ensure the media can make meaningful contributions to national development.
“As a representative of Media Prima Bhd (MPB), I want to highlight the role played by the staff and various media platforms under MPB in helping to disseminate information, policies and benefits to the people about the Malaysia Madani framework.
“Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure that the information provided is accurate, relevant and beneficial.
“Our media platforms such as television, radio, print media and digital media are crucial in conveying government policies and national development efforts to the public,” he said in his speech at the Malaysia Madani national corporate seminar here today.
Also present was Akademi Kenegaraan (Training) deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusof.
Zaini said various programmes, including news, articles and media campaigns can raise public awareness about national policies and benefits.
“This includes policies related to the economy, education, health and others that have a direct impact on the daily lives of the people.
“Among others, the media also plays a key role in educating society on the values necessary for building an advanced and prosperous nation.
“By promoting work ethics, values of tolerance and harmony, we can help build a better and more unified society,” he added.
Commenting on the seminar, he said the programme aims to develop corporate, private and government-linked company (GLC) members to understand their crucial roles and responsibilities in nation-building.
“Through this programme, we have the opportunity to develop personal potential, strengthen identity and enhance professionalism towards individual patriotism.
“I am confident that this initiative will enhance our knowledge, skills and awareness of our role as partners in national development,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said, the company also plans to establish special programmes that can generate returns for the company.
“This effort can be achieved by securing sponsorship from private entities to jointly fund programmes related to Malaysia Madani, thereby contributing to the company’s revenue.
“So, our role is not just to promote the understanding of Malaysia Madani but also to help the country and the people.
“We can utilise all available platforms to mutually support companies,” he said. – NST Online
